August Employee Spotlight: Crystal Rohde

After a brief summer hiatus, we are very excited to proudly highlight someone from our wonderful staff here at NWRPC! Our August employee being "spotlighted" is Crystal Rohde, Business Development Specialist/IT Specialist.

Crystal Rohde

Tell us a little about yourself:

I grew up in Webster, WI and currently live here in Spooner with my family. I have a seven year old daughter who keeps my life outside of work busy and interesting – she’s a blast and being her Mom is my favorite role! I love music, the great outdoors, staying active, and EVERYTHING about summer! I feel grateful to live and work near my extended family and spend as much time with them as possible.

What is your role at NWRPC and what are you currently working on?

I recently accepted a promotion to become a Business Development Specialist at NWRPC. This is a wonderful opportunity and I’m really looking forward to the new role and the challenges it will bring. In the past, I was an Administrative Assistant/IT Specialist. When I fully migrate into my new position, I will continue to manage all technology related items in the office, etc. as well as the phone system and our website/social media presence.

How long have you worked for NWRPC and what has been your proudest moment working here?

I have been with NWRPC for 10 years now! Hard to believe it’s been that long. I was very proud of the new website when it launched back in December of 2011. It was a pretty big project for me to undertake and I was very happy with the outcome.

What do you enjoy most about working at NWRPC?

I’ve formed some good friendships here at the planning commission - makes it fun to come to work. I’m proud of the work we do here and the people we are able to help through various programs.

What’s your personal motto?

I try to focus on the positives and always find the silver lining. I’ve been through some tough experiences with the health of my daughter that have helped me gain a lot of perspective and appreciation for the little things. My favorite quote – simply because it is SO true is this:

“There is more good than bad in this world, more light than darkness, and YOU can make more light.” Peter H. Reynolds

Lastly, as a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was very young, I wanted to be an actress. When I was a little older, I wanted to be Diane Sawyer and report the news.
